"Women of the Crown" catwalk in Edinburgh Castle

Last week, part of a press trip promoting Mary Queen of Scots movie with Visit Scotland, I was lucky enough to be on the guest list of first ever Haute Couture Fashion Show in Edinburgh Castle. The walls of the castle might have witnessed many events throughout its history but it was the first time experiencing a catwalk.

Catwalk

The event was a collaboration between Historic Scotland and American fashion designer Jeff Garner paying a tribute to the Royal Fashion icon, Mary Queen Scots. Jeff Garner who is an unconventional romantic visual artist, pioneers in sustainable and eco friendly fashion with his label Prophetik are on a path of transformation, leading the evolution of fashion and changing our perception of luxury. Mr. Garner was named one of the top 40 artists in the US and works were placed into the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery for the 40 under 40 Exhibition. Prophetik is established in the United States and is fast becoming the label synonymous with fashion-led ethical design in the United Kingdom with widespread praise from both ethical and mainstream fashion media. The Catwalk showcased the exclusive collection for the first time ahead of London Fashion week (15th to 19th February). Historic Environment Scotland also launched a new range of beautiful products inspired by the alluring Queen. After the show we met an array of unique Scottish suppliers and brands in the neighbouring Queen Anne Room. The evening was a success and an amazing tribute to our unique historic figure Mary Queen of Scots.
